Ready Player 2

Support Handoff Protocol

This is not a conflict-resolution tool.

It is a stabilization tool.

Use this card when:

  • A person becomes emotionally overwhelmed or dysregulated

  • Communication becomes unclear, shut down, or rapidly reactive

  • One person cannot continue normal conversation safely or coherently

  • There is emotional flooding, withdrawal, panic, shutdown, or dissociation

  • The relationship needs temporary role shifting to stabilize the moment

READY PLAYER 2 Moments of emotional overwhelm can happen without warning. A person may become flooded, withdrawn, or unable to communicate in ways that feel coherent or safe. In these moments, ordinary conversation breaks down.

Ready Player 2 is a support protocol designed for those transitions.

It acknowledges that when one person becomes dysregulated, the other often becomes responsible for improvising care without clear instruction. This can lead to confusion, misattunement, or emotional strain on both sides.

This card introduces a pre-agreed structure for those moments: a shared understanding of how to shift roles temporarily, reduce environmental pressure, and simplify communication.

It is not a solution to emotional distress. It is a way to stabilize the space around it.

By defining simple options for presence, communication, and touch, it reduces guesswork and allows both people to remain connected without escalation or withdrawal.

The goal is not to fix what is happening internally, but to prevent additional harm while it passes.
