Causa Sui

Causa Sui™ — DIY Social Friction Kit

Causa sui‍ ‍(pronounced [ˈkau̯.sa ˈsweeː]) means “self-caused,” or more simply: do it yourself.
This project applies that idea to everyday human interaction.

Causa Sui™ is a system of card-based prompts designed to reduce social friction, navigate conflict, and support clearer communication. Each card offers a small, structured intervention—whether that’s pausing a misunderstanding, setting a boundary, or repairing a moment after it goes sideways.

The premise is simple: no one else is coming to manage our conversations for us. We are responsible for how we show up, how we engage, and how we step away when needed.

The cards are designed to be used in real time—between friends, family, or strangers—to interrupt escalation and create space for better outcomes. They combine an institutional visual language with humor and empathy, making the tools feel both official and approachable.

Causa Sui™ is not about perfect communication. It’s about creating small moments of awareness that reduce harm and make interaction more human.
